The Federal Government, states, and local government areas (LGAs) shared a total of N1.659 trillion as revenue for May 2025, according to the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC). The allocation was announced following the FAAC meeting held in June 2025 in Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Information at the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.
The total distributable revenue includes:
Statutory revenue: N863.895 billion
Value Added Tax (VAT): N691.714 billion
Electronic Money Transfer Levy: N27.667 billion
Exchange rate difference revenue: N76.614 billion
In May 2025, gross revenue stood at N2.942 trillion. From this, N111.908 billion was deducted as the cost of collection, while N1.171 trillion was allocated for transfers, interventions, and refunds.
Gross statutory revenue for May was N2.094 trillion, which was N10.023 billion higher than the N2.084 trillion recorded in April. VAT revenue also increased to N742.820 billion in May, up by N100.555 billion from N642.265 billion in April.
Out of the N1.659 trillion total distributable revenue:
- The Federal Government received N538.004 billion
- States received N577.841 billion
- Local governments got N419.968 billion
- An additional N124.076 billion was shared to oil-producing states as 13% derivation revenue
Breaking down the statutory revenue of N863.895 billion:
- The Federal Government received N393.518 billion
- States received N199.598 billion
- LGAs got N153.881 billion
- Oil-producing states received N116.898 billion as 13% derivation
From the N691.714 billion VAT revenue:
- The Federal Government got N103.757 billion
- States received N345.857 billion
- Local governments received N242.100 billion
The N27.667 billion electronic money transfer levy was shared as follows:
Federal Government: N4.150 billion
States: N13.833 billion
LGAs: N9.683 billion
From the N76.614 billion exchange rate difference revenue:
- Federal Government received N36.579 billion
- States received N18.553 billion
- LGAs got N14.304 billion
- N7.178 billion was shared as 13% derivation to eligible states
