U.S. stock futures point to a higher open after President Donald Trump said in a social media post he planned to announce a trade deal on Thursday.
Trump said he would hold an Oval Office news conference to discuss “a MAJOR TRADE DEAL WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF A BIG, AND HIGHLY RESPECTED, COUNTRY.” Trump didn’t name the country but reports say the deal is with the UK.
The deal is expected to be framework of an agreement with tariff adjustments, according to the WSJ. It would be the first announced by the Trump administration this term.
At 5:40 a.m., futures linked to the blue-chip Dow added 0.77%, broad S&P 500 futures rose 1.04% and tech-heavy Nasdaq futures jumped 1.41%.
