Barclays: RBA May Raise Interest Rates for the Last Time in August

Barclays economists said in a note that while the current reliance on data is “critical”, the RBA may hike rates again in August.
Economists pointed to the RBA statement emphasizing that Tuesday’s pause in rate hikes was for this month and warning that further tightening of monetary policy “may be required”.
Economists believe that after one more rate hike in the third quarter, the RBA could stay on hold for the rest of 2023 before starting to cut rates in the first quarter of 2024.
