June 13th, the National Australia Bank’s May business survey showed a sharp decline in all survey areas, including employment, and confidence entered negative territory. The data, which is closely watched by the Reserve Bank of Australia, could be a reason to pause rate hikes in July before awaiting the latest inflation data in August. The RBA should be increasingly confident that the policy impact is being realized.
