Economists expect Fed to rein in inflation

Economists have become more pessimistic about the Federal Reserve’s control of inflation, according to a Wall Street Journal survey. Most expect headline U.S. CPI to fall to 3.5 percent this year, compared with 3.1 percent in a January poll. Three-fifths of economists expect the Fed to raise rates one last quarter point in May and not cut rates this year.
