Thailand, Japan renew local currency swap agreement

March 30th, the Bank of Thailand said on Thursday that the Bank of Thailand and the Bank of Japan have renewed the bilateral local currency swap agreement (BSA) signed for the first time in 2020 for a period of three years until March 30, 2026.

The BSA allows up to 240 billion baht (about 7.02 billion U.S. dollars) or 800 billion yen in local currency exchanges between the central banks of the two countries, enabling them to provide financial services to eligible financial institutions in Thailand and Japan, the central bank said in a statement.
